In 2002, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation made the first of five two-year grants to health care delivery organizations in Massachusetts to help expand access to culturally competent care in systemic, replicable, and sustainable ways. The first year of the grant was for program planning and the second was for implementation. The funding was intended to help launch new initiatives that will assist the organization to deliver culturally competent care, or strengthen and enhance existing policies and procedures. This program area is now closed to new grantees.
