Closing the Gap on Health Care Disparities

Program Goal

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachsuetts Foundation provides support to non-profit organizations seeking to address health care disparities in Massachusetts. The goal of this program area is to improve access to health care and support services for groups experiencing health care disparities based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, mental illness, and sexual orientation. The Foundation supports initiatives that take a comprehensive and innovative approach including collaboration between providers and community stakeholders. This program area is currently in year two of a planned three-year grant cycle. The first year of the grant cycle was devoted to planning and research. The second and third years of the cycle will focus on program implementation. The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation has awarded $2,018,387 in years one and two of the current Closing the Gap on Health Care Disparities program.
